About Our Client

We are partnering with a global cotton merchant to appoint a highly strategic and commercially driven China General Manager to lead its cotton trading business in China. This is a pivotal leadership role with full P&L responsibility, covering sourcing, trading strategy, key account engagement, supply chain optimization, risk management, and team leadership.

The successful candidate will shape the company's future growth in one of the world's critical cotton markets and serve as the key interface to major customers, including spinning mills, state‑owned entities, and major private sector players.

Job Description

  • Lead the China cotton trading business with full P&L accountability.
  • Develop and execute national trading and sourcing strategies aligned with global business objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with major spinning mills, state‑owned groups, and key private clients.
  • Drive market intelligence, price‑risk management, and supply-demand forecasting.
  • Oversee import flows, logistics, warehousing, and delivery performance.
  • Strengthen commercial governance across contract execution, pricing, and risk exposure.
  • Manage and mentor a commercial and operations team across China.
  • Coordinate closely with global trading desks and contribute to global portfolio decisions.



The Successful Applicant

  • 10+ years experience in cotton trading - MUST HAVE.
  • Demonstrated experience with China cotton market, including relationships with spinning mills, COFCO/Chinatex, and other industry institutions.
  • Strong understanding of physical trading, import flows, quality specs, and basis trading.
  • Proven leadership experience with P&L accountability.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent Mandarin; professional English proficiency required.
