Job Description



1. Talent Acquisition Leadership (Core)

  • Build and lead a strong US‑based recruitment function, covering:
    • Retail operations leadership (store managers, regional managers)
    • Corporate functions (operations, merchandising, supply chain, HR, finance)
    • Specialised retail and consumer business roles
  • Develop deep local talent pipelines across the US, particularly in regions with high consumer density
  • Establish relationships with external recruiters, community networks, and industry talent pools
  • Ensure hiring practices are competitive, compliant, and aligned with US labour market realities



2. Global HR Strategy & Governance

  • Act as the senior HR for North America while contributing to global HR strategy
  • Align people strategy with business growth plans, particularly in retail expansion and operational scale‑up
  • Drive consistent but locally appropriate HR policies, frameworks, and governance
  • Support leadership on workforce planning, organisation design, and succession planning



3. US-China Cultural Bridging

  • Serve as a key cultural translator between US and China leadership teams
  • Help leadership teams understand differences in:
    • Decision‑making styles
    • Employment practices
    • Employee expectations and engagement drivers
  • Provide practical advice to reduce friction and improve trust across regions



4. Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner closely with senior executives across operations, merchandising, and support functions
  • Coach line managers on people management in a US retail context
  • Act as a trusted advisor on sensitive people issues, change management, and organisational effectiveness



5. HR Capability Building

  • Strengthen HR team capability in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance
  • Introduce scalable HR processes and systems appropriate for a multi‑site retail organisation
  • Promote a professional, disciplined, and people‑centric HR culture

The Successful Applicant



Experience & Background

  • Significant HR leadership experience within retail, consumer, grocery, hospitality, or multi‑site operations
  • Proven track record in North America-based recruitment, particularly in the US
  • Strong understanding of the US labour market, retail talent dynamics, and employment regulations
  • Experience working in international or cross‑border organisations, ideally involving Asia and North America



Cultural & Personal

  • High cultural intelligence with the ability to navigate US and Chinese business contexts
  • Practical, grounded, and execution‑focused; comfortable operating in a hands‑on environment
  • Able to influence senior stakeholders without relying on authority alone
  • Values stability, long‑term business building, and professional standards



Language & Mobility Requirements

  • Fluent English (business‑level; able to lead senior discussions)
  • Mandarin or Cantonese highly preferred (but not mandatory)
  • Must hold a US Card or equivalent permanent work authorisation
  • Able and willing to accept international assignments or external postings as required
