Job Description

  1. Project Lifecycle & Commercial Support
  • Participate in the full project lifecycle, from early-stage client engagement and proposal support to project execution and closing.
  • Support project teams on project budgeting, cost tracking, margin analysis, and financial performance monitoring.
  • Identify financial and commercial/legal/contractual risks and provide timely recommendations to ensure project profitability and cost discipline.
  1. Client & Contract Interface
  • Support management and project leaders in commercial discussions with clients, including fee structures, payment terms, and financial clauses.
  • Review and advise on contracts from a financial and risk perspective, in coordination with legal advisors when needed.
  1. End-to-End Finance Ownership
  • Take overall responsibility for the company's finance function, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, tax, audit, and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure financial accuracy, transparency, and compliance with PRC regulations and internal group policies.
  • Oversee coordination of general legal matters in cooperation with external counsel and group legal, ensuring compliance with local regulations and internal standards.
  1. Cost Control & Internal Governance
  • Participate in Company's established instruments for project-based cost control mechanisms, including labor cost allocation, expense control, and resource planning.
  • Monitor utilization and project economics in a professional services / design consulting environment.
  1. Responsibility for the Chinese-based Accountant supporting this role
  2. Labor Law & HR-Related Finance Matters - Nice to have
  • Work closely with HR and management on labor cost planning, employment structures, and compliance with PRC labor law.
  • Provide finance input on compensation cost, staffing plans, and related contractual matters.
  1. Stakeholder Management
  • Act as a key interface with headquarters finance, external auditors, tax advisors, and banks.
  • Support the China leadership team with financial insights to drive informed decision-making.



 

The Successful Applicant

  • Solid experience in a finance, commercial, and operational role, preferably in project-based, professional services, design, engineering, or consulting environments.
  • Strong understanding of project finance, cost control, and margin management.
  • Practical experience or solid knowledge of PRC labor law and commercial contracts from a finance and risk perspective.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, yet able to think strategically and communicate effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience in foreign-invested companies and comfort working in an international, matrix organization.
  • Experience in the architecture or design industry is a strong advantage.
  • Fluent in English and Chinese, some German would be beneficial
