Job Description Work in South Korea and China. Lead the technology roadmap and product development for next-generation high-voltage NMC cathode materials. Design and optimize material technologies (composition, morphology, surface coatings) to improve energy density, cycle life, and thermal stability. Develop scalable process innovations (lithiation, sintering, milling) to enhance productivity and reduce costs while maintaining performance. Drive innovation in precursor synthesis and co-precipitation control, as well as calcination and post-treatment processes. Translate laboratory results into pilot-scale and mass-production-ready processes, collaborating closely with process engineering and manufacturing teams. Analyze and resolve complex failure modes such as capacity fade, gas generation, cracking, and metal dissolution. Collaborate cross-functionally with electrochemistry, cell design, electrolyte, and manufacturing specialists for system-level integration. Monitor competitive technologies and academic developments, contributing to IP strategy and patent filings. Mentor junior scientists and help build a international materials research team. The Successful Applicant An experienced materials scientist or chemical engineer with deep expertise in NMC cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries, ideally gained at battery manufacturers or cathode material suppliers. They hold a PhD or MSc in Materials Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering and have at least 8 years of hands-on experience spanning the full lifecycle-from concept development to industrial-scale production.Key attributes include: Proven ability to design and optimize high-voltage NMC materials (composition, morphology, coatings, doping). Strong understanding of electrochemical performance-structure relationships and failure mode remediation. Expertise in particle engineering, precursor chemistry, and scalable process development. Track record of translating lab innovations into pilot and mass-production processes. Comfortable working in IP-sensitive environments and global English-speaking teams. Influential and collaborative, with the ability to mentor junior scientists and contribute to technology leadership. What's on Offer Strategic Impact: The role directly shapes the next-generation battery technology roadmap, giving the candidate a chance to influence global innovation in high-voltage NMC cathode materials. Innovation Freedom: Access to advanced laboratories, pilot lines, and global collaboration networks to drive breakthrough research and scalable solutions. Career Growth: Opportunities for leadership visibility, mentoring junior scientists, and contributing to IP strategy in a fast-evolving organization. Competitive Package: Relocation support, six-digit annual remuneration, performance-based incentives, and strong recognition for intellectual property contributions.
