1. What led you to recruitment?

I studied and worked in UK for 12 years and joined Michael Page through our first China London Assessment center. These are some of the reasons why I chose to join the Michael Page and the recruitment industry. Firstly Michael Page offers an organic growth career path, hence this is not only a short-term job but offers a long-term career. Secondly, all your hard work, determination and success are rewarded fairly with promotion and bonuses. Thirdly, we have a large market share in China with both MNCs and Chinese clients, which suited me well from my overseas experience.

2. What skills have helped you in your role as a Director?

In the past 7 years, Page has offered a great career path and development for me to develop from being a consultant to a Director leading 50 consultants. There are various skills that are required to be successful at this role as listed below.
1. Self-development – it is always important to develop yourself before you develop your team in terms of  commercial knowledge, mindset and connection to the outside world
2. Ability to motivate –  not just to lead but to inspire.
3. Vision – as our China business grow quickly, the Director role requires developing a goal that is greater than yourself, and relating to all individuals in the business.

3. How have you balanced the demands of the job with your life away from work?

It is a challenge to balance work and life as I take care of my young daughter, and try to maintain a healthy life. However, I always try to be effective at work to get things done within working hours, and also empower my team with trust and play to their strengths. This is important for me so I can keep a good momentum and energy at work with my clients, candidates and team.
What is most rewarding about your job?
There are many rewarding parts through my journey with Page, but the one that I enjoy most is people development: our consultants get promoted, our new starter makes first fee or progress, our team works toward common targets together.

4. Do you have any advice to anybody thinking about joining PageGroup?

This is a fantastic job opportunity if you enjoy building relationships with people and developing the ability to consult and sell. This is a challenging and rewarding career, both financially and in terms of recognition. These are all necessary so you can constantly exceed your limits. This is not about your age or experience, but rather, your ability to improve with a “Win and Learn” mindset.
