The Tissue Culture Lab Manager will oversee the end-to-end operation of a plant tissue culture laboratory, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and compliant production of tissue culture plantlets. The role will lead technical optimization, team management, laboratory safety, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver propagation projects at commercial scale.

Job Description

1.Manage the full tissue culture workflow, including media preparation, aseptic inoculation, subculture, acclimatization, hardening, and quality inspection.

2.Establish and optimize tissue culture and micropropagation systems for a range of plant species.

3.Troubleshoot technical challenges such as contamination, browning, vitrification, and somaclonal variation.

4.Drive continuous improvement of culture protocols, production efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

5.Lead recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management of laboratory personnel.

6.Develop and maintain SOPs, technical standards, and operational documentation.

7.Ensure compliance with biosafety, laboratory safety, chemical handling, and equipment management requirements.

8.Coordinate closely with R&D, production, procurement, and commercial teams to support propagation demands and project delivery timelines.

9.Manage laboratory materials, reagents, consumables, and inventory planning.

10.Maintain complete production records, experimental data, and traceability documentation.

11.Support intellectual property protection activities, including technical documentation and patent-related projects.

The Successful Applicant

1.Bachelor's degree or above in Plant Science, Horticulture, Agronomy, Botany, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.

2.8+ years of hands-on experience in plant tissue culture, with proven laboratory management experience.

3.Strong expertise in media formulation, aseptic techniques, micropropagation, acclimatization, and transplanting processes.

4.Demonstrated ability to solve technical challenges in commercial tissue culture production.

5.Experience managing teams and driving operational performance in a laboratory environment.

6.Familiarity with laboratory equipment maintenance, quality systems, and safety management practices.

7.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

8.Good command of English, with the ability to communicate effectively in a professional working environment.
