Job Description Define and drive system-level functional safety architecture for industrial applications. Translate standards, regulations, and customer requirements into hardware and software safety requirements. Lead safety lifecycle activities, including HARA, FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, and safety validation. Develop safety concepts, diagnostic mechanisms, redundancy strategies, and fault-handling approaches. Ensure compliance with IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 13849, and relevant industrial safety standards. Collaborate with system architects, product groups, software, hardware, and validation teams. Support safety assessments, certifications, audits, and customer engagements. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and functional safety training across engineering teams. The Successful Applicant Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or related disciplines. At least 8 years of experience in industrial systems, embedded software, semiconductor, or automation-related environments. Proven experience as a Functional Safety Architect, Safety Manager, or Senior Functional Safety Engineer. Deep understanding of IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 13849 and industrial safety frameworks. Strong knowledge of embedded systems, MCU/SoC architecture, industrial communication protocols, and safety mechanisms. Experience engaging with certification bodies and cross-functional global teams. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Nice to Have Functional Safety certification (e.g., TÜV Functional Safety Engineer/Professional). Experience with cybersecurity and its interaction with functional safety in industrial systems. Background in robotics, motion control, motor drives, or industrial power conversion. Familiarity with semiconductor safety architectures, safety libraries, and safety-certified IP. Experience supporting third-party assessments and certifications with notified bodies.
