About Our Client

An international commodities trading platform (petroleum coke, coal and related petroleum products) is strengthening its China market intelligence and commercial capability. With an established global sourcing and distribution network and a lean, professional team, the business is expanding downstream coverage in North China-serving key petcoke consuming industries across cement/power, aluminium anodes, carbon & silicon, and battery / new energy materials.

Job Description

  • Build and expand client coverage in, with a clear focus on petcoke sales and commercial execution.
  • Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with downstream customers and key decision-makers (procurement heads, plant GMs, trading managers).
  • Translate market signals into actionable insights: refinery supply movements, quality/spec trends, import economics, demand shifts across aluminium/carbon/battery chains.
  • Execute trading and sales strategies: pricing, term/spot negotiations, volume planning, contract management, and coordination with global counterparts.
  • Identify new opportunities (new accounts, new applications, substitution windows, policy/operational changes) and convert them into sustainable business.
  • Support risk discipline: counterparty screening, payment terms negotiation, credit exposure awareness, and structured deal planning.

The Successful Applicant

  • 10+ years commercial experience in petroleum coke (GPC/CPC exposure is a plus), with solid understanding of petcoke quality, specs, and downstream use cases.
  • Strong client resources and network in China-existing, active relationships with major consumers and key channels in relevant industries (battery materials / aluminium / carbon / cement & power).
  • Strong understanding of China's crude oil/refinery landscape and/or deep coverage of battery, aluminium, and carbon value chains (customer mapping + buying logic).
  • Proven track record in customer development, negotiations, and closing deals; commercial judgment with market sensitivity.
  • Ability to operate independently, collaborate cross-border, and communicate clearly in a fast-moving trading environment.
  • Location: flexible; frequent customer engagement expected.
