About Our Client

Our client is a global medical device and consumables manufacturer, is seeking a seasoned Plastic Tooling Manager to join their R&D hub in Suzhou.

Job Description

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Oversee a 10-member team comprising tooling designers, engineers, and technicians, ensuring seamless integration from project inception to production.
    • Collaborate with global R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to align mold design strategies with product specifications, regulatory requirements (FDA/ISO 13485), and cost targets.
  2. Technical Expertise & Innovation:
    • Lead complex mold design projects for high-precision medical components (e.g., single-use plastics, surgical tools), optimizing for functionality, scalability, and manufacturability.
    • Implement cutting-edge injection molding technologies (e.g., multi-cavity molds, automation integration) to enhance production efficiency and reduce cycle times.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Act as the primary liaison with external suppliers (tooling vendors, material suppliers) and internal factories to ensure design feasibility, quality compliance, and timely delivery.
    • Conduct design reviews, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and risk mitigation planning.
  4. Team Development & Global Engagement:
    • Mentor and develop team members through performance feedback, skills training, and exposure to global practices.
    • Represent the Suzhou R&D center in global meetings, sharing insights and driving alignment across regional teams (North America, Europe, Asia).

The Successful Applicant

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in injection tooling design and manufacturing, with a proven track record in medical device or high-precision industries.
  • Global Team Experience: Prior leadership in multinational/cross-cultural teams, with exposure to ISO 13485, FDA QSR, or similar quality standards.
  • Technical Mastery: Proficiency in mold design software (e.g., UG/NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD), simulation tools (Moldflow), and material science for medical-grade polymers.
  • Supplier & Factory Management: Strong negotiation, cost-optimization, and problem-solving skills when interfacing with suppliers and manufacturing plants.
  • Communication: Fluent English (written/verbal) to collaborate with global stakeholders; proficiency in Mandarin preferred for local team interactions.
