Job Description

Pitch process, delivery and analysis

  • Develop a strong understanding of the Firm's clients, practices, industries and Asia regional market to support effective pitch and marketing activity. Key focus areas for this role are Corporate (especially Capital Markets/IPO) and Litigation/Dispute Resolution.
  • Prepare, edit and deliver high-quality Chinese and English pitches, capability statements, RFP responses, panel submissions, client presentations and related marketing materials.
  • Maintain core marketing collateral and attorney biographies, ensure quality control across pitch materials, and track pitch outcomes, matter information and satisfaction metrics in Firm databases and reports.



Directories, rankings and awards

  • Project manage Asia legal directory and awards submissions, including tracking deadlines, submissions, awards and interview requests.
  • Draft and coordinate survey responses and legal directories selected Asia practice areas, working closely with attorneys on content.
  • Organize directory meetings with partners and prepare supporting materials.



Business Intelligence

  • Work alongside colleagues in Asia and the global team to assist with market research and business intelligence projects, including targeting, competitive intelligence and cross-marketing efforts.
  • Keep track of emerging start-ups and enterprises in China through observation of industry treads, early-stage financing rounds, as well as intelligence and other relevant information among legal and financial services communities to establish early contact with potential clients.



Media

  • Maintain and draft Chinese content for the Firm's website and WeChat channel.
  • Work closely with the DOBD on the Firm's WeChat initiative, including drafting Chinese language announcement for review and posting of WeChat announcements, working alongside an external agency on content delivery.
  • Work closely with DOBD on other external communications initiatives involving the Chinese market and/or clients and attorneys in Mainland China.



Client events and hospitality

  • Support Firm visibility in China by attending relevant business conferences, forums and start-up industry events.
  • Work with Asia partners and our Events lead based in Hong Kong to plan, deliver and manage client events, hospitality initiatives and sponsorship opportunities in China, including budget support.
  • Coordinate event execution, including invitee lists, logistics, on-the-ground support, post-event follow-up and related invitation or social media content.



The Successful Applicant

A successful Business Development professional should have:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 5+ years of experience is preferred (candidates with less experience will be considered for a Coordinator role). Law firm and/or other professional service experience is preferred.
  • Practice Knowledge: Solid, proven understanding of Corporate law, Capital Markets (IPO/M&A processes), and Litigation/Dispute Resolution practices.
  • Excellent command of English and Mandarin Chinese.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills in both English and Simplified Chinese.
  • Strong attention to detail and client-service oriented mindset with strong listening skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word and Excel) and the ability to learn and adopt new technology software quickly.
  • Excellent client service orientation, interpersonal skills and communication skills - both written and oral, and the ability to build remote relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and deliver a high-quality work product whilst maintaining a professional outlook and attitude.
