Our client is a well-established international manufacturer specializing in advanced, returnable plastic packaging solutions. The company provides customized products such as containers, pallets, and trays that enhance operational efficiency and sustainability across complex supply chains.

With a long-standing presence in China and a local manufacturing site in East China, the business serves key industries including healthcare, automotive, and intralogistics and automation. The organization operates with a lean and agile team structure and delivers high-specification, project-based solutions backed by strong technical and design capabilities.

The company is currently seeking a Business Development Manager to drive business expansion in China. This is a highly sales-oriented role focused on identifying new market opportunities, developing key accounts, and delivering sustainable revenue growth.

The role requires a proactive "hunter" mindset, with a strong focus on acquiring new clients, building strategic partnerships, and successfully winning project-based business opportunities.
 

Job Description

  • Develop strong technical, customer, and commercial expertise in returnable packaging solutions (RTP), including market dynamics and customer needs
  • Conduct data-driven market research to identify and evaluate target segments, key stakeholders, and potential customers aligned with short- and long-term growth strategies
  • Proactively share market insights and customer feedback internally to enhance conversion rates and improve customer satisfaction
  • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing customers, acting as a credible industry expert in RTP-related operations
  • Represent the company in industry events, exhibitions, and seminars to strengthen market visibility and brand positioning
  • Gain a deep understanding of customer operations, value chains, and pain points in order to define technical and commercial requirements and develop compelling value propositions
  • Own the full sales cycle, from opportunity identification to solution design, proposal development, and deal closure, while providing technical guidance to customers
  • Drive revenue growth and margin improvement through effective sales strategies and business development initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (sales, finance, production, and supply chain) to deliver integrated and competitive solutions
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of competitive landscape, industry trends, and key global and local players within the RTP sector

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree or above in engineering, business, or a related field
  • Proven experience in business development or sales
  • MUST come from returnable packaging sector
  • Strong capability in data-driven market research, customer needs analysis, and development of technical/value-based sales propositions
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving business growth through value-based selling and high-margin project conversion
  • Solid understanding of competitive dynamics and ability to develop winning sales strategies and solutions
  • Experience managing/developing key accounts, with direct ownership of annual revenue of RMB 15 million+ preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of the China market, with broader exposure to Asia Pacific markets considered a plus
