Job Description

  • Develop and apply AI, machine learning, and foundation model approaches to scientific research challenges.
  • Design and implement workflows that integrate AI techniques with quantum computing and computational science applications.
  • Analyse large-scale scientific datasets and generate insights to support research objectives.
  • Collaborate with physicists, mathematicians, computer scientists, and software engineers on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Build, evaluate, and optimise predictive models for scientific applications such as simulation, modelling, and discovery.
  • Stay informed about advancements in AI, machine learning, and scientific computing, and assess their applicability to research programmes.
  • Contribute to research publications, technical reports, patents, and internal knowledge sharing where appropriate.
  • Support the development of scalable tools, platforms, and infrastructure for AI-enabled scientific research.



The Successful Applicant

  • PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Mathematics, Computational Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in applying AI and machine learning techniques to scientific or research-focused problems.
  • Solid understanding of deep learning, generative AI, large language models, or foundation models.
  • Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with large datasets, scientific computing environments, and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of scientific modelling, optimisation, simulation, or computational research methods.
  • Familiarity with quantum computing, quantum algorithms, quantum chemistry, materials science, or related scientific domains is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate research ideas into practical solutions and experimental frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience publishing research papers, patents, or technical contributions is advantageous.
