Job Description

  • Develop and implement an integrated ocean procurement strategy aligned with volume targets, yield optimization, and market dynamics
  • Deliver measurable improvements in freight rates, cost savings, and loading factor (yield) across key trade lanes
  • Own spot and online rate management processes to enable real-time, competitive pricing for frontline sales teams
  • Lead pricing strategy for key tenders, ensuring alignment between procurement capability and commercial objectives
  • Build and maintain strong, multi-level relationships with ocean carriers to secure competitive rates, priority space, and strategic advantages
  • Negotiate long-term agreements with core and emerging carriers to optimize capacity and mitigate market risks
  • Drive collaboration with LCL, LLP, and VAS product teams to enhance network synergy and procurement efficiency
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Pricing, and Operations to ensure effective execution of procurement strategies
  • Monitor market trends, trade developments, and competitor activity to proactively adjust sourcing strategies
  • Standardize procurement processes and governance across the region to ensure consistency and compliance

The Successful Applicant

  • More than 10 years of experience in ocean freight procurement and pricing (FCL and LCL)
  • Proven track record of delivering rate competitiveness and yield improvement in complex market environments
  • Strong expertise in China trade lanes, carrier management, and spot rate mechanisms
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex tender pricing and drive cost-profit optimization
  • Established relationships with major ocean carriers and ability to leverage networks for commercial advantage
  • Strong financial acumen with a structured approach to procurement and pricing strategy
  • Highly proactive, results-driven, and able to operate in a fast-paced, matrix organization
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with cross-cultural leadership capability
  • Fluent Mandarin is essential; able to engage in negotiations and stakeholder discussions
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
