As the Technical and SHEQ Manager, you will ensure that all Technical elements relating to product safety, quality and legality are managed. You will work inline with product specification sheets from raw materials through to finished product and ensure that all manufactured product is of the high standard
Be an integral part of the supplier process, conducting factory and systems audits for all raw materials. You will be an escalation point for Supplier issues that fall outside of the agreed specification.
Be the point of contact for external public authorities and certification body in relation to product and HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) matters. The position will ensure the implementation of HSE throughout the company and will gold responsibility for necessary procedures and documentation for HSE and internal control.
As JV Board with a monthly Technical report and KPI update.
Product Conformance
* Assessing agreed customer requirements and ensuring that these are reflected in customer and product specifications
* Identify and implement SHEQ KPI's to monitor standards and drive the business forward using continuous improvement methods
* Support NPD product launches, and ensure that QAS standards are implemented
* Contribute to the planning, development, control, testing and maintenance of resources, systems and equipment.
* Undertake equipment calibration on monitoring equipment and ensure external calibration is completed annually.
* Manage the sample retention area and ensure that all results are logged and shared with the production team
* Conduct an end to end trace-ability test on an annual basis
Measurement and Conformance
* Identify any areas of product risk and develop measures to reduce and control
* Leading the team in using this information to improve overall compliance to the quality system, raw material, process control and finished product specifications
* Conduct root cause analysis to manage any non-conformance identified, implanted corrective actions and preventive measures as and when required
* Manage a testing budget with external laboratories
* Form part of the internal audit and conduct system and Fabric and Hygiene audits periodically
* Responsible for managing customer complaints and ensuring preventative measures are implemented
Supplier Management
* Work in adherence to supplier management processes that have been established.
* Develop a working knowledge of manufacturing process for complete foods to become the main link with suppliers to drive their product improvement processes Work with external supplier in establishing robust product specifications
* Work with purchasing staff to specify quality requirements of all externally sourced materials
* Ensure processes are in place to maintain supplier conformance including, Service Level Agreements (SLA's)
* Manage and oversee product trials and other scientific studies - be the key link to supplier & external technical consultants
NPD
* Form part of the NPD team and provide technical support to the process including, advice on technical processes and the setting of material, process and product specifications in order to achieve commercially viable new products in line with company strategy
* Work with suppliers - both for packaging and NPD to problem solve
H&S
* Increase Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality awareness to Managers and employees with training techniques and coaching sessions including toolbox talks and Health, Safety and Environmental inductions.
* Ensure that all accidents/near misses are reported, recorded, investigated and acted upon
* Conduct risk assessments throughout the production and warehouse facility and ensure that the company is compliant in line with the relevant regulations
* Ensure that the company has the correct H&S measures in place that are reasonably practicable
* Ensure the necessary H&S quality system is implemented and communicated across all areas of the business
Regulatory
* Owner of the technical H&S regulatory compliance including liaison with governmental agencies
* Responsible for accurate and legislative compliant product labelling and conformance
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation relating to product safety and legality, ensure any changes are communicated to the business with a plan of action advising of necessary requirements

- 8-10 years working experience in relavent field is requried for this position, must have previous experience in a similar HSEQ role
- Recognized qualification in Health & Safety Environmental Management
- LEAN training, desirable
- Experience and knowledge of Quality Standard BRC - Global Food & Distribution
- Worked in a process driven manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental processes and legislation
- Experience of working to or implementing a Quality Management System (QMS)
- Relevant Quality related qualifications i.e. Lead Auditor
- Advances HACCP qualification
