The GM is responsible for the short and long-term success of BT's Chinese business measured in terms of financial performance, market positioning, commercial/competitive position, reputation and customer satisfaction. The GM must achieve this success by means of a qualified, dedicated and inspiring company-wide leadership role.
Strategic vision and leadership
Collaborate with the JV Board in leading the continued development of BT from its current stage to a more mature organization capable of delivering on its long-term vision.
Mission, policy and planning
The GM supports the board in updating BT's vision, mission and values and in defining the long-term strategic and financial objectives including vision, mission, and values to the entire organization so that all managers and employees are inspired to achieve the objectives.
Operations:
Build and establish the overall commercial responsibility for BT's operations and ensure an effective development program by also serving as BT's Chief Development Officer. Identify risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
Management and administration
Demonstrate the leadership necessary to make the mission of the organization a success; provide leadership vision, leadership that attracts followers, and all other aspects of successful leadership within the organizational context
Implement the management structure necessary for success; leading, guiding, directing, and evaluating the work of other executive members; build on the characteristic low-power, open-debate, no-nonsense culture of BT - leaders are leaders not by 'appointment' but because they earn and deserve the respect of the followers
Support and motivate the management team and employees
Oversee the complete operation of BT's organization in accordance with the direction established in the strategic plan and the board's guideline
