Job Description

Monitor and analyze China's macroeconomic trends, financial regulatory policies, and trade policies.

Develop in-depth reports on economic opportunities, potential risks, and prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Contribute to the development of the embassy's 1-year and 5-year strategic plans for economic and financial engagement.

Provide policy recommendations to safeguard national interests and advance regional economic diplomacy.

Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with Chinese government agencies, financial institutions, think tanks, and academic organizations.

Represent the embassy at economic forums, policy briefings, and academic conferences.

Deliver regular briefings and analytical reports on developments in the economic and financial sectors.

Collaborate with other embassy departments to ensure a comprehensive and unified understanding of China's economic landscape.

Provide localized insights into the economic dynamics of different regions across China.

Identify emerging industries and technologies relevant to bilateral cooperation initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

A strong academic background in economics or a related field.

Proven experience in economic research and data analysis.

Proficiency in using economic modelling tools and software.

Excellent communication skills for presenting findings and recommendations.

The ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.

A keen interest in public sector challenges and opportunities.

Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
