Piramal's Generic API division offers an indigenous basket of off-patent APIs for global markets. With the declining pipeline of new drugs in the pharmaceutical industry, our customers are looking for off-patent APIs with competitive cost and quality. Apart from a ready product basket, we also collaborate with our customers to identify generic opportunities early, and work closely with them to ensure timely availability of the APIs to support their filings ensuring timely market entry.

We have a basket of over 35 ready to offer APIs with DMF & other regulatory filings across CNS, CVS, Antiinfective, Anti-diabetic segments to name a few. We also have over 12 molecules in the development pipeline catering to highly complex and niche segments including hormonal and corticosteroids.

Piramal Pharma Solutions is a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), offering end-to-end development and manufacturing solutions across the drug life-cycle. They serve clients through a globally integrated network of facilities in North America, Europe and Asia. This enables to offer a comprehensive range of services including Drug Discovery Solutions, Process&Pharmaceutical Development services, Clinical Trial Supplies, Commercial supply of APIs and Finished dosage forms. The Chief Manager - Business Development for API Generics will develop and maintain business realtionship with existing and potential clients. This individual will be erposnsible for representign API team as a point of contact in a wide variety of settings (including coferences, trade shows, client visitsm presentations, etc,). This individual must be able to coordinate multiple clients' projects simultaneously, while working closely with representatives from all departments. Should implement and deliver the sales plan to support short-term and long-term growth strategy of the API generics.

  • Identify sales opportunities and establish relationships with existing customers to generate future sales, avenues for cross selling and repeat business. Develop and implement strategic plans for key accounts in assigned territory
  • Contact new accounts and leverage network to map opportunities
  • Prepare and deliver client proposals in collaboration with Program Managers. Negotiate agreements of sale to close accounts and secure long-term agreements
  • Interface with supply planning/production functions and export logistics/shipping team to ensure dispatch as per customer time-lines and liaise with regulatory team to meet statutory requirements
  • Partner with R&D and Strategic Marketing teams to identify new products and ensure that they are developed as per agreed timelines and costs
  • Participate in strategy and annual planning meetings
  • Report out on sales performance and funnel. Develop forecast, budget and track performance
  • Retain, expand and strengthen client relationships by ensuring high-quality customer service and issue resolution
  • Develop and maintain a current understanding of the external marketplace (e.g. conditions, trends and competitors) as well as internal capabilities and technologies
  • Lead and manage records of relevant client information in database


  • Experience in holding business development and sales responsibility for API Generics business in the APAC region or similar scope
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific subject or equivalent experience in a relevant environment(chemistry, biology etc.), MBA Preferred
  • Solid and demonstrable experience of 10-12 years in the Generics space handling international markets. Team handling experience.
  • Solid demonstration of negotiation and sales skills including strategic thinking and key account management key account management
