About Our Client
Our client is a top tier Commodities Research firm. As part of the increasing focus in North Asia, they are expanding the Metals & Mining research team to include an experienced Steel Analyst.
Job Description
The Steel Market Analyst will form part of a quickly growing team responsible for developing comprehensive short and long term crude steel production and consumption outlooks for the Steel Market Service (SMS). These outlooks will be based on inputs from the in-house Macroeconomic team and will also serve as inputs to the newly launched Iron Ore Market Service.
Specifically, each Steel Market Analyst will be responsible for analysing and developing content for :
- Regional and country-level crude steel and hot metal production and consumption forecasts to 2030
- Company, corporate and country level data for steel mills and projects, for EAF, BF and BOF
- Forecasts for levels of scrap, pig iron and direct reduced iron (DRI) by country to 2030
- Analysis relating to these forecasts and justification for them
- Finished steel demand and production analysis
The Successful Applicant
- Degree from a top tier University in Business, Finance or Engineering; post-graduate degree is highly preferred
- Knowledge of the metals and mining sector is essential, either in a research or analytical capacity
- Understanding of all industry data sources, the usefulness of each and how they can be used in research.
- A strong understanding of the macroeconomic/steel demand/consumption relationship is required.
- Excellent English writing skills are a must; Chinese language stronger preferred
