Job Description

  • Ensure that Group Policy requirements for Business Continuity are in place across all business functions.
  • Establish and maintain a community of Country Department Continuity Coordinators (DCC's) for the development, maintenance, and testing of Business Continuity plans.
  • Ensure DCC's are adequately trained in their Business Continuity duties, and provide support and guidance as required.
  • Establish and maintain a Business Continuity strategy in line with Group standards, to ensure recovery capability is in place to meet the needs of business in Country.
  • Be responsible for maintaining BCP sites, to ensure that they are available and functional for use in the event of an emergency situation.
  • Ensure that all departments have Business Continuity Plans in place, that these are up to date, and that they are tested on a regular basis in line with Group standards.
  • Establish and maintain a Business Continuity annual test schedule for all sites and business functions
  • Provide report on every Business Continuity test conducted including actual recovery capability
  • Conduct annual refresh exercises of Business Impact Analysis, Policy gap analysis, Country Risk Assessment to ensure plans reflect latest threats and requirements.
  • Participate in Country Crisis Management Team activities as directed by the CEO and Head CRES.
  • Ensure that Incident Command Centres are maintained a functional at all times for use in an emergency.
  • Provide regular MIS to the Group BCP function on activities, tests, and incidents in Country.
  • Ensure Country management are aware of threats and gaps in BCP preparedness via the CORC reporting structure.Provide continuous improvement solutions and take on any additional key responsibilities issued by management from time to time

The Successful Applicant

  • An understanding of Banking Operations and the Regulatory requirements governing Banking Operations.
  • An understanding of the technological infrastructure and applications used in the Bank.
  • An aptitude to acquire professional knowledge and educational accreditation in Business Continuity Planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex issues and translate these into clear and concise reports to facilitate decisions required from Senior Management.
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and with a high degree of initiative.
  • Computer literate, especially with MS Office.
  • Preferably a person of professional standing with experience of both the technical and managerial aspects of Business Continuity, IT Disaster Recovery and Crisis Management planning.
