Individual Income Tax
Management Seminar |
Michael Page are pleased to invite you to our Individual Income Tax seminar where we will go through some basic PRC IIT concepts related to expatriate employees as well as exploring some current hot topics. Our speaker will share the practical experience, highlight the high risk areas and use real cases/examples to analyse the technical implications of the controversial areas.
PRC Individual Income Tax (IIT) is one of the main sources of tax revenue for the PRC government. Although IIT on salary and wage is the personal tax of employees, employers are obliged to act as withholding agents and report the IIT withheld to the tax authorities. In case of any wrong reporting which results in underpayment of tax, the tax authorities could also penalise the employer (being the withholding agents). Facing stronger enforcement by the tax authorities, employers should always be vigilant with IIT compliance.
Recently, we have seen that both HR and finance may have to be involved in handling these complex tax issues: |

Permanent establishment issues due to the expatriate employees’ PRC secondment arrangement |
| • |
IIT audit/examination carried by the PRC tax authorities |
