About Us

TOMS humble beginnings happened unintentionally. In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS with the idea of One for One, a business model to help a person in need with every product purchased. That simple idea has since grown into a global movement. Realizing that One for One could serve other global needs, Blake launched TOMS Eyewear in 2011 to help restore sight to persons in need with every purchase of sunglasses and optical frames. In 2014, TOMS Roasting Co. launched with the mission to provide clean water to developing communities with the purchase of premium coffee.

TOMS is in business to help improve lives. We identify a global need and create products to help address them. This simple idea is what makes us more than a company – we’re a movement that’s continually evolving.

TOMS Shoes has provided over 35 million pairs of shoes to children since 2006, and TOMS Eyewear has restored sight to over 250,000 since launching in 2011.

Our movement is made up of many parts, including One Day Without Shoes and World Sight Day, our annual days to raise awareness for the global issues of poverty and avoidable blindness and visual impairment.

Eyewear
Our eyewear is inspired by iconic and vintage style, from wayfarer-inspired Classics to pilot frames to historic oversized lenses, and every purchase provides our customers the opportunity to restore sight to a person in need.

Coffee
Our latest mission helps our customers provide the most basic human need: With every bag of coffee you purchase, TOMS will give one week of clean water to a person in need. One for One.®
