Microsoft's goal in China is to create outstanding software products and solutions that meet the needs of the Chinese people and the Chinese market. Through its collaboration with local information technology industry, Microsoft hopes that individuals and enterprises alike, can benefit from Microsoft's technology and solutions, thus further contributing to the development of China's knowledge economy and information technology industry.
Microsoft set up its first representative office in Beijing in 1992 and established Microsoft (China) Company Limited in 1995. Since then, Microsoft has opened branch offices in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, Shenyang, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Fuzhou and Xi'an expanding its business across China. Its operation now encompasses such areas as basic research, product development, technical support and service, training and marketing and sales.
Today, Microsoft in China is comprised of Microsoft Sales, Marketing and Service Group and several research, R&D and technology support facilities: Microsoft Research Asia, Microsoft Advanced Technology Center, Microsoft Research and Development Center, Microsoft Global Technology Support Center, Microsoft China Technology Center and MSN Technologies China. Its business includes Windows Client, Server and Tools, Information Worker, Microsoft Business Solutions, Mobile and Embedded Devices, MSN and Home & Entertainment products.
