Bekaert started its business more than 127 years ago and set up its China operations in the early nineties. Bekaert was one of the first companies to believe in China’s status as a world player. In recent years, Bekaert has experienced significant growth in China in almost all of its business platforms, in particular in its steel cord products for tire reinforcement. Today, with more than RMB 4 billion invested, Bekaert China is one of the most important foreign investors in China, where it has 14 joint ventures or wholly owned companies including a R&D center, trading company and the Asia Regional Headquarter. Now, more than 5,000 people in China are working for Bekaert.
