Senior Java developer

*Work closely with the Programme / Project Manager to ensure that high quality work is delivered as per plan.
*Lead, facilitate and chair solution design meetings and follow up with team members as required to focus on technical issues, documenting all design issues to ensure clearance with minimal impact to project progress. Provide input to Project and/or Programme Manager for Steering Committee Meeting.
*Analyze business requirements for development or implementation projects and translate into system requirements.
*Identify, evaluate, and design HSBC compliant solutions for business consideration and undertake impact analysis of proposed solutions.
*Provide consultancy to business and act as a subject matter expert for specific technical and business areas.
*Manage a medium-sized team of around 5 - 15 resources in multiple locations.
*Coordinate with business users, BA and IT teams to ensure that applications are built according to requirements, properly tested and successfully deployed.
*Facilitate and provide knowledge transfer on applications and business processes to production support teams through documentation or training sessions.
*Ensure that problems are managed at his/her level, and escalated efficiently with the minimum disruption to the business.
*Maintain good exposure and develop knowledge in new techniques, products, services, technologies and standards.
*Develop a good level of understanding of the related business systems of the Group.
The Successful Applicant
*University degree in computer science, information technology or a related discipline.
*Minimum 11 years (for SDS) / 8 years (for DS) of work experience in the financial industry, of which 4-5 years are gained in system development, implementation, systems re-engineering, system integration or operation support/design.
*Proven track records in implementing IT systems in large scale organizations and in-depth experience developing IT solutions for FX, Derivatives, Payments and Accounting Systems.
*Possess knowledge of the regulation affecting the FX space in the region.
*Experience to liaise with all relevant parties in SWD and work with business stakeholders including trading, sales and supporting function.
*Strong Leadership skill to drive the engineering team forward, managing complex requirements, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team or on an individual basis.
*Solid expertise in J2EE, WebSphere Application Server, IBM MQ, Oracle PL/SQL, Java, AOP, Hibernate, Spring, database design, with a strong awareness of emerging technologies and industry standards such as HTML5, DOJO, JSON.
*In-depth knowledge of design/modeling standards such as UML and design patterns.
*Experience and knowledge in establishing automated testing, virtual services development, TDD or BDD, CI and software test coverage analysis (eg. Sonar).
*PMP and Agile SCRUM certification would be an advantage. Familiarity with the HSBC standards and processes like Agile would be useful.
*Prior experience in working in a global, diversified and matrix team structure will be an advantage.
*Effective communication skills in spoken and written English.
*With a positive, proactive and can-do attitude.
Willing to travel overseas and Mainland China when required.
