About Our Client
Our client is a major global player and worldwide leader in its industry sector. The organization takes pride in their high quality products as well as a passionate, dedicated, and talented team across the globe. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced intellectual property lawyer to join its China team in Shanghai to support the growing business in the China region.
This key position will report to the President and work closely with the China commercial team. You will have the responsibilities of a wide range of intellectual property related activities in China, both contentious and non-contentious. You will provide legal support with respect to general IPR matters in China, including managing anti-counterfeiting issues, designing, developing, and implementing IPR strategy, conducting IP training to increase commercial team's awareness, and cooperate with external lawyers / investigators in taking necessary legal actions against counterfeiters. In addition, you will act as interface to the corporate legal and IPR department at the headquarter to ensure efficient communication and handling of IPR matters, and provide pragmatic advice to senior management on IPR related issues. This position will also have responsibility to liaise with customs authorities and external firms on IPR, investigation, and litigation related matters. Occasional business travel will be required.
The Successful Applicant
The suitable candidate will be a qualified PRC lawyer with at least 8 years post-qualification experience from multinational companies and/or international law firms, ideally LL.M. Degree or admission to the bar in another jurisdiction. A solid practice experience in intellectual property law is required and prior brand protection experience will be advantageous. Leadership experience and solid project management skills are preferred. You will have strong commercial acumen which will enable you to rapidly integrate and add value to the business and legal department. Excellent command of English and Mandarin is essential.
