1. Before PageGroup, where were you before and what were your specialisations?

Before I joined Page, I was in K2 Partnering Solution specializing in SAP contracting recruitment.

2. Why did you join PageGroup and what is your current role?

Contracting is an ad-hoc, exciting and high margin business. However it lacks one thing matters the most to me, face-to-face interaction. I never had the chance to meet the candidate I placed twice in half a year and now she remains as “the candidate I placed twice in half a year”. I like to make people feel alive because it is what people are, alive.
Currently, I lead the front office practice in Michael Page Financial Service Shanghai office, covering the recruitment of front office professionals in investment banks, private equity funds, hedge funds, asset managers and principle investment groups within larger financial service firms.

3. How has your past experience helped you in your current role?

The nine months in K2 helped me find my passion - people. I very much enjoy talking and meeting with my candidates/clients, listening to their stories and needs, partnering with them to reach for the next step in their career or to identify the most suitable candidate for their team.

4. Successes / achievements that you have accomplished during your time at PageGroup

I built up the front office recruitment practice from scratch and I’ve won a broad range of recognition among the financial market. I am the top biller in our Financial Service team as well as the top 50 across PageGroup APAC.

5. How have you grown with PageGroup?

When I first started I was a muggle to the finance world let alone front office. The only way to fill the gap is effort. The effort to catch up on the market knowledge, the effort to get connected, the effort to do better homework before any client meetings. I’m happy that my effort is recognized and rewarded internally or externally.

6. What are the most rewarding parts of your job?

The most rewarding parts of my job is to make the difference. I am working with the top 20% of the workforce to better navigate their career path, identify their passion and strengthen and utilize them in the right platform, so that they could be their best self and serve the company/society better.

7. What advice would you give to graduates who are looking to join the recruitment industry?

In recruitment, there are three things that matters - passion, effort and focus. Recruitment is not rocket science, so as long as you are passionate about people, put in time and effort and stay focused, you will make a fortune while having lots of fun.
