Jobs growth continues to surge in the fourth quarter
- 64% of companies plan to increase staff numbers in the fourth quarter
- 66% of employers are focusing recruitment on front line roles
- Retention is a major concern for 38% of businesses
The volume of professional job opportunities in Northern & Eastern China is expected to rise sharply in the fourth quarter, according to the Michael Page Employment Index.
The majority of employers surveyed (64%) intend to increase staff numbers in the next three months, with most companies focusing recruitment on front line positions.
“Employers are recruiting for revenue generating roles in areas such as sales and account management in order to position themselves for further growth in 2011. The aim is to capitalize on the business opportunities presented by the current period of strong economic growth,” said Andy Bentote, Managing Director of Michael Page, Northern & Eastern China.
Jobs growth in front line roles is expected to continue into 2011. Back office and operational opportunities are also set to rise as companies focus on supporting the increased levels of business activity.
The current rate of recruitment demand is already causing talent management challenges for employers.
“With more opportunities available and employees more confident about making their next career move, employers are recognising the importance of attracting and retaining the skills needed to expand business operations. Retention of key staff will be critical over the next 12 months and 38% of employers are already placing a major focus on retention strategies,” said Mr Bentote.
